TV Ratings: ‘Scorpion’ finale up, while dipping ‘Dancing,’ ‘Voice’ lead Monday

Fast National ratings for Monday, April 20, 2015.

The first season finale for “Scorpion” ticked up and helped CBS finished second for Monday night both overall (behind “Dancing with the Stars”-led ABC) and in the key demo (tied with ABC behind “Voice”-driven NBC).

Both “Dancing with the Stars” and “The Voice” were down on Monday, as were “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “The Night Shift.”

Joining “Scorpion” in the positive column were “The Following” and both of CBS' 8 p.m. comedies.

Let's get to the numbers…

Among adults 18-49, NBC averaged a 2.1 rating for Monday night, tops in the key demographic. ABC and CBS were close behind with a 1.8 key demo rating. FOX's 1.3 key demo rating was fourth, followed by the 0.5 key demo rating for  The CW.

Overall, though, ABC averaged an estimated 11..51 million viewers and a 7.5 rating/12 share for Monday primetime, winning comfortably. CBS was second with 8.95 million viewers and a 5.5/9, holding off the 8.69 million viewers and 5.6/9 for NBC. There was a big drop to FOX's 3.83 million viewers and 2.4/4 and to The CW's 1.18 million viewers and 0.8/1.

8 p.m. – ABC's “Dancing with the Stars” started primetime in first overall with 12.69 million viewers and tied for second with a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49. NBC's “The Voice” was second with 9.99 million viewers and first with a 2.4 key demo rating. CBS was third with “2 Broke Girls” (7.44 million and a 1.9 key demo) and “Mike & Molly” (8.04 million and a 1.9 key demo). FOX's “Gotham” averaged 4.3 million viewers and a 1.5 key demo rating in fourth. And The CW's “The Originals” was fifth with 1.28 million viewers and a 0.5 key demo rating.

9 p.m. – “Dancing with the Stars” was up to 13.44 million viewers and a 2.1 rating among adults 18-49 in the 9 p.m. hour for ABC. NBC's “The Voice” was second with 10.56 million viewers and won the hour with a 2.7 key demo rating. CBS' “Scorpion” finale averaged 10.42 million viewers in third and a 2.1 key demo rating to tie for second. FOX's “The Following” took fourth with 3.35 million viewers and a 1.2 key demo rating, topping the 1.07 million viewers and 0.4 key demo rating for The CW's “Jane the Virgin.”

10 p.m. – “NCIS: Los Angeles” won the 10 p.m. hour with 8.685 million viewers, edging out the 8.4 million viewers for ABC's “Castle,” while both dramas did a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49. NBC's “The Night Shift” averaged 5.53 million viewers and a 1.3 key demo rating in third.
