Sony Pictures’ “Soul Surfer” marks the film debut of Carrie Underwood, the “American Idol” champ-turned chart-topping multi-platinum superstar.
She stars alongside AnnaSophia Robb, Dennis Quaid and Helen Hunt. The film depicts the inspirational true story of champion surfer Bethany Hamilton (Robb), who lost her arm in a shark attack at 13, only to eventually recover and return to surfing.
As an actress, Underwood previously appeared on one episode of “How I Met Your Mother.”
