We’re Old: No one is standing in line for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ opening night

Today is the day! “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” arrives in theaters for opening night previews across the country. For fans that were alive for the prequel trilogy – or the original trilogy if we”re going back to pre-Internet days – it”s a time to reminisce. Not about the movies themselves, but the experience of standing in line with friends and strangers, all brought together by a love for Star Wars.

An experience today”s generation isn”t having.

No more are fans gathering with lawn chairs and portable BBQ grills. No one has called in sick to tent camp outside the theater. Certainly no one is mainlining Mountain Dew as the hours drag on. Between reserved seating and pre-sale tickets, the Age of Line Queues is at its end. I found this out the hard way today.

We were the last of our kind. Prepare to feel old.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is in theaters NOW.
