Absolutely! A true badass.
Rest in peace, Pat. Sorry that we keep running into roadblocks trying to throw the fucker who got your ass killed and lied to your parents about it in prison.
That is a man!
If you haven’t seen The Tillman Story yet do so. Great documentary.
/snaps off shit hot salute
Didn’t know there was a doc about it, Buffalo… I’ve been meaning to look into exactly what happened.
I’d like to co-sign Buffalo Boots’ recommendation.
Tillman was a badass, and the true story of his life and death needs to be heard.
I read Where Men Win Glory a few months ago and I still have the issue of SI covering his death and the aftermath. It’s unbelievable how he and his family were treated considering all that they stood for.
A moment of silence for a guy who is about 100 times a man than anyone I personally know, the guy in the mirror included.
/dick jokes to resume if there’s a kommenter draft today
I’M PAT FUCKING TILLMAN!
[Snaps off sharp salute, spins on heel, trips over shoelaces]
Most MEASTy of all
May he find the clearing at the end of the path.
@shootme- It just came out last year. Here’s a link to the trailer:
Left shoulder forward.
May Eternal Rest be granted unto him and may Perpetual Light shine upon him. I’m sure he was in heaven a half hour before the devil knew he had passed. Safe Home, Pat.
One of the greatest examples of selflessness and one of the greatest examples of bravery.
I solute this hero. RIP
/a moment of silence
//no dick joke
As an aside, regardless of your views on the wars / military, if you get the opportunity to see “Taking Chance” with Kevin Bacon, do so.
“If you haven’t seen The Tillman Story yet do so. Great documentary.”
Concur, it’s definitely worth watching. The word “tragic” is overused, but it is a tragedy such an interesting and unique life was ended and covered up the way it was for a brave and honorable man. There’s some real shameful shit going on in this world.
R.I.P. Pat was the truest definition of a hero.
Can we rename the meast of the week to the Pat Tillman Memorial Meast of the Week or is that not deserved at the time when these fuckers are fighting over a multi-billion dollar piece of pie? You know what, fuck it, no one in the NFL deserves this title.
/plays For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) at ear shattering decibel levels. Smashes head against the wall when the 21 gun salute line comes on.
Rest in Peace brave soldier.
Try finding a story today on Pat Tillman on ESPN, Sport Illustrated, USA Today or NFL.com, you won’t find one.
RIP Pat, and thank you to all the servicemen and women.
God Rest his Soul a True American Hero.
Let his story be heard and let the fucking assholes who lied about and covered up what really happened be held accountable.
Pat Tillman is an example of how great this country can be if do our best to be our best.
Pat Tillman’s life and legacy will be my children’s children’s bedtime story. R.I.P. my good man. You didn’t deserve to die, and we didn’t deserve your sacrifice. Truly, a man amongst men.
Also, fuck ESPN. I can read a front-page story about how the Cowboys stadium might host bowling events but I can’t find a single goddamn article about a great player and true American hero? Unfuckingbelievable. I hope Walt Disney is sucking Jim Nantz’s soon-to-be present wart-covered cock in hell. Fuckers.
A good football player. A great American. An amazing human being.
He, and a lot of other veterans deserved a lot better treatment than they received from their country.
As a veteran myself, I think I speak for most of us when i say we will gladly fight and die for our country. All we ask is that the cause we are sacrificing our lives for is a worthy one.
RIP Mr. Tillman. Hopefully the day will come when our government remembers that their purpose is to serve the people and not vice versa, so sacrifices like yours will not only be unnecessary but unacceptable.
Who said the Arizona Cardinals never had a champion?
RIP to Pat Tillman, a role model for anyone and everyone.
Never was a fan of the Cardinals. Kinda hate them as a divisional rival. But I respect the hell out of this man. R.I.P. Mr. Tillman.
Local command incompetence got him killed, members of the U.S. Army tried to cover that up, when the family pressed the matter, members of the U.S. Army tried discrediting the family since they are not “Good Christians” (Mr. Tillman was not either). To me he was a dynamic, thinking man who was selfless and one of the best the human race has to offer. What certain members, through the chain of command, of the U.S. Army did to Mr. Tillman and his family is inexcusable and will be a black mark on them if we choose to remember.
Long live the memory of Corporal Pat Tillman; what he was, what he did, and what was done unto him.
I agree with the caveman lawyer, this guy’s picture needs to be in the dictionary next to the word “HERO”.
My son has his SI cover after his death framed and in his room. He’s been told he can like all of the players he wants but there is to be only one “hero” amongst those athletes.
RIP Pat. The best of the best. You did not deserved to be treated in death the way you were.
Sorry for a Quaker to intrude, but…
There is no reason for a human being to die for an idea.
There is no reason for deadly violence to occur between humans.
For any reason.
Under any circumstances.
Is your life less important than an idea? Go die for it. See how that works out for your parents, your children, your wife and your loved ones.
If it is, your worldview is so fucked up it’s so incomprehensible to me that I can’t understand the worthlessness you’ve assigned to the only life you will ever been given.
I spent my life training to save lives, not to end them.
Are Mr. Tillman’s relatives better off because of his absence? Read their words.
He died for a lie as almost every soldier, sailor, airman or marine ever has in the history of humanity.
Dying for a lie is not heroism. It is the most extreme display of idiocy in all of human experience.
RIP Pat Tillman. You should be here today with life, love, chlidren and famliy.
The abandonment of all this is so tragic I cannot see the screen through my tears.
When Chuck Norris jerks off, he imagines he’s half the badass Pat Tillman was.
I wish he were still with us. I wish the people who scored cheap political points off his life and death were not
Thank you for you service, and your sacrifice..
I agree with Gunner’s Mate 1st class. Very well put. And what is interesting, if you read When Men Win Glory, you really see that Pat Tilman himself came to some of those conclusions, sadly, after he had joined the military.
Like Avon Barksdale said, “He’s a man today, he’s a man.”
That is all well and good, however we are a violent, tribalistic species and that will not be overcome any time soon.
@Bad Axe (tough ass-kicking name, BTW)
When a man begins an argument imagining Chuck Norris jerking off to anything, we’ve got oursevlves an insurmountable masculinity problem before we even begin to consider its merits in regard of his amourous feelings for Tiliman and/or teh Chuck.
I wish Pat Tillman were still with us. His life could have been a fine example of service to country and kind,
I don’t wish that the people who scored realistic and throughly genuine political points off his life and death were dead. This type of statement is commonly refferrerd to as a death threat and would apply to his mother, father, brother and other relatives who shrieked out their anguish at their beloved brother’s funeral.
You, “Bad Axe” would, I assume, wield that “Bad Axe” to cleave in twain the rotten shitbags who might have suggested theis war was never a good idea in the first place and leave a swathe of bloody destruction in your wake of destroying those not just like you.
Becoming them. You colossal fucking idiot. Life is right. Death is wrong. All else is your putrid philosophy that must eliminate the enemy, whomever they may be. The enemy might even be you one day, with that epiphanc change of heart to the good and realize living a life of goodnes and righteoiusness is more important than your exterminative philosophy.
In which case, we’ll have one less “Bad Axe” to deal with, yours planted firmly in you own cranuim. One down…
We can always work toward and hope for the best. We’ll all die moving forward fucking hoping for an impossible ideal, but at least we’ll be somewhat at peace knowing that we tried to move things forward has quickly as we can to the best of our abilities.
Beats being Bad Axe. Fucktard.
I’m not advocating giving up in trying to make the world a more civilized place. I’m saying the we need to know ourselves and be realistic and pragmatic about our nature.
/not a fan of hero worship.
There is zero room here for political or other arguements.
Honor the memory of a better man than 95% of us (that’s us, including me) or fuck off.
To Pat Tillman and all who wear the uniform with honor, Thank You.
The hardest and baddest of the “beetle crunchers.”
That self-serving REMF General McChrystal (stripper name) can kiss my ass.
And shut the fuck up, Philip Asshole. Yes, violence is stupid and usually unnecessary, but you don’t have the sack to be a Gunner’s Mate, let alone to second-guess what they might put their life on the line for.
RIP, Cpl Tillman.
I do believe I’m honoring Corporal Tillman because I believe he had much more to accomplish in life than in fratricide.
The whole point is that lives should never have to be put on the line because there should be no two sides in a common humanity who serves a loving God.
And Quakers have served frequently and with gallantry in times of war as combat medics and other medical and surgical personnel saving the lives and comforting the deaths of countless US personnel the world over.
This one just chose not to believe the lies of a chimp douche who couldn’t get into the University of Texas Law School despite the fact that his father was a congressman from the state.
And if you can’t see the obvious irony of of a Quaker referring to himself as the worst sailor on the worst spaceship in the history of comedic cinema….
Do yourself a favor and see Spaceballs. From the “04” part of your moniker I can only assume that you’re about twelve and need to gain some perspective on the world outside the recruiting poster that got you where you are in the first place.
Spaceballs is one of the best Mel Brooks films ever, and it came out the year after I joined the Navy, so I’m a bit older than 12.
And yes, W is an incompetent lying drunk, but to call him a chimp does injustice to simians everywhere. Like all drunks, his biggest problem was denial of reality.
And the reality is that we are not a common humanity serving a loving god, and that lives DO have to be put on the line. You choose not to do that, and I should not have criticized you for making that choice, just as you should not criticize Pat Tillman for choosing to fight for what he believed in (which, by the way, was not a loving god).
I never criticized Corporal Tillman for his choice to fight, which as you mentioned was certainly not for a loving God.
I criticized the idea of the “necessity” fight itself and that he found himself at such a crossroads.
I just wish it would all stop.
