So Atlanta is pretty horrible, huh? Nice to know now that we’ve seen them in primetime games in back-to-back weeks.

The Falcons opened the game with the ball. Matt Ryan nearly threw an interception, but instead Atlanta was forced to punt. Even worse, their punt was forced backward by the Jets and New York took over in Atlanta territory. Geno Smith got them a few first downs but the drive ended in a field goal.

A pass up the seam to Roddy White was caught and fumbled. It was quickly scooped up by Julio Jones for a 47-yard gain. To the surprise of everyone, Atlanta got into the red zone and actually did something with the opportunity, though the shovel pass to Jason Snelling that scored the Falcons’ only touchdown was nearly swatted down by Muhammad Wilkerson. Still, the 10-7 lead was Atlanta’s at the time.

From there, it’s been all Jets. Jeff Cumberland and Jeremy Kerley have touchdown catches. The latter capped a three-play, 66 yard drive that elicited boos from the Georgia Dome crowd.

The Falcons looked to narrow the deficit as the half expired. Again, they reached the red zone thanks to an awesome third down catch by Tony Gonzalez. A holding call on David Harris gave the Falcons a first and goal from the five with 33 seconds left and all their timeouts. Of course, it being the Falcons, it didn’t work out. A Julio Jones bubble screen on third down ended at the 1 with seven seconds left. The Falcons elected to go for it on 4th down and were awarded with a pass interference penalty. Unfortunately, even with the free first down, they only had time for one more play and that was an ineffective rush by Jacquizz Rodgers of the right guard. So very Falcons…
