The celebrity Super Bowl pick is a time-honored tradition, one we at KSK are always happy to take part in. For the next two weeks, stars from all over the world will drop in to make their picks. Today, it’s writer, actor and director, Lena Dunham.

I love the Super Bowl. LOVE IT. Last year, I went to a Super Bowl party in this sketchy part of Bushwick. All I remember is some black guy fisting me while Madonna sang “Like a Prayer”. It felt dangerous and real, because he was black. Love Madonna, too. That bitch has brought it for 30 years. Mad respect, girl. I can only wish I look that good when I’m 80.

I don’t know how the Super Bowl became, like, this thing that we do collectively as a people. It seems like a celebration of everything that is backward and wrong in society. Violence, commercialism, excess, worship of the media. But, you know, whatever. There are so few occasions that we are allowed to cut loose that it’s not even worth questioning them. Is that wrong? I don’t care. I just don’t. I’m sorry.

Can I be honest? I don’t know anything about football. It’s not because I’m a woman. I hate that. There are lots of women out there who know tons about football. I know that violates some make-believe gender boundary for some people and I’m just playing into that by not knowing anything about football myself, but it’s just not for me and that’s that. I just want to enjoy one Super Bowl without all this gender baggage. Just one, okay?

I do know that it’s San Francisco and Baltimore this year. I feel really good for Baltimore that they made it because that city is a rough place and those people need something to be happy about. It’s a total cliche to talk about “The Wire” with Baltimore but I think there’s a reason for that. Because it was true to life. HBO knows that sort of thing when they see it and I think that’s why they were receptive to my show.

San Francisco is great. I went there all the time as a kid when my parents had shows on the West Coast. Wonderful city. Very European in a lot ways. I could totally see myself living there if I could ever live anywhere but New York. I heard something about people freaking out because one of their players has tattoos or something. What the f*ck? That’s so like this country. I have tattoos. Tattoos are f*cking hot. Jesus, I can’t believe people sometimes.

Apparently, one of the Baltimore guys killed somebody a while ago. That’s so perfect for Baltimore. They can identify with that. I’m sure people wanna judge that guy, but we don’t know his circumstances. We don’t know his life. I think it’s hard for black people in this country. And you know what? I’m kind of intrigued by killers. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to be with someone who killed somebody. If nothing else, it would be exciting.

So I’m rooting for Baltimore and I’m gonna try to hook up with a murderer at a party this year.
