Say Hello To This Mouse-Eating Spider Here From Australia To Haunt Your Nightmares

Nothing to see here, folks. Just a terrifying, nightmare-inducing Australian huntsman spider carrying a mouse up the side of a refrigerator, as they are wont to do in Australia. The scene was captured by Jason Wormal of Coppabella, Queensland, who writes on Facebook that he was just about to leave for work on Monday morning when his neighbor alerted him to the scene unfolding in his kitchen. Why his neighbor was looking to find spectators instead of say, burning his goddamn house to the ground, is unclear.

As he records the unfolding scene Wormal can be heard saying, “What’s he going to do with him?” Because, in Australia people are much more chill about a “spider carrying a mouse” situation than you or I would be. Also, I don’t know what’s he’s going to do with him either but I think it’s pretty safe to say that a tea party is out of the question.

Eventually they named the spider “Hermie” and Wormal joked in a subsequent post that the spider is now paying rent. (Although a spider that big, I dunno, maybe pay it rent.) Hermie now joins the list along snake-eating spider and salad-creeping spider of reasons to never set foot in Australia.
