There’s a mess of a presidential election a year away, D.C.’s  football team is riddled with issues and there’s that thing happening where the Hamilton musical is more popular than all of the presidents and senators to ever hold office combined. Washington D.C. is definitely going through a rough patch lately. But things aren’t all bad for the nation’s capital. After years of waiting, D.C. is finally getting it’s very own Milk Bar.

That’s right, citizens of the capital! No longer will you have to be jealous of cities like New York and Toronto who have been keeping their love of Milk Bar selfishly to themselves for so long. As The Washington Post reports:

The Milk Bar outlet at CityCenterDC will have more than 50 employees and managers dedicated to the production kitchen or the bright, airy, light-filled corner store where teams will offer breads, cookies, pies, cakes, cake truffles, shakes, soft-serve ice cream and various drinks.

That’s enough sweets to bribe one side of the aisle to start listening to the other side! Who will be the first presidential candidate to wholeheartedly endorse Milk Bar and get that coveted “millennial city dwellers with a sweet tooth” voter block?

Now that the capital will at long last be able to satisfy cravings for crack cookies at the drop of a hat, it’s time to consider if there are any downsides to this addition to the city. For one, it won’t be long before politicians start outgrowing their blazers and need to go up a size because of Milk Bar’s signature cakes. And what are the chances that the next government shutdown doesn’t get solved because all of Congress is face deep in a delicious Milk Bar pie? This opening could have long term ramifications for the country! Until any of those things happen though, rest easy that Milk Bar is up and running and ready to satisfy the thousands who have dreamed of this day.
