Chinese Newspaper Congratulates Kim Jong-Un For Being Named The Onion’s Sexiest Man Alive

Editorial Director

It’s been far too long since I’ve had the opportunity to cover my hungry North Korean muse, Kim Jong-Un, so I was more than delighted to find out that the People’s Daily, China’s Communist party newspaper, had not detected the many layers of sarcasm and snarkiness in The Onion’s 2012 Sexiest Man Alive award and ran a story on it, complete with Onion quotes and a Kim-looking-sexy slideshow. It’s all pretty perfect.

The real question now is whether the People’s Daily becomes wise to their folly, and if so do they take down or revise their article? My suspicion is they’ll stubbornly support Kim Jong-Un’s “devastatingly handsome, round face, his boyish charm, and his strong, sturdy frame” without flinching. Let’s keep the link handy, but just in case the full write up (sans slideshow because it’s done a number on my own self-confidence) below.

Former Onion Sexiest Men Alive: Bashar al-Assad (2011), Bernie Madoff (2010), Charles and David Koch (co-winners 2009), Ted Kaczynski (2008), and T. Herman Zweibel (2007). So, you know, nice research. Someone please do me a solid and put the Abortionplex on China’s radar. I’m intrigued by their reaction.

Also, not a hungry joke, but still does it for me…
