Conor McGregor may not be as big of a superstar as Ronda Rousey, but he’s still one of the UFC’s most popular fighters, and he’s enjoying the money and fame that comes with that. Take a second to look through his Instagram account and you’ll see a non-stop stream of fancy suits and expensive watches, but what sticks out most to me is his collection of expensive cars.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Conor McGregor is “buildin’ a proper fleet” of automobiles with the current lineup including a Mercedes S500 AMG Coupe, a Cadillac Escalade, a Range Rover, a BMW 4 series, a BMW 5 series, and a BMW i8. It’s not Mayweather-level insanity, but still not too shabby considering the first car he got before he became “Notorious”:
“An Opel Astra,” McGregor says (think: Chevy Cruze). “I was an apprentice plumber, and I went into a car place with, like, ten cents in my pocket. I was on nothin’ a week, workin’ my bollocks off. But I went in and they said, ‘We’ll give you this brand-spanking new car if you sign this sheet. And all you gotta do is pay this amount every month.’ And I was like, ‘Sure! No problem!’ Signed the sheet, drove out in the car…never paid a once. They came and got it and took it back and that was that!”
Money might be good for Conor McGregor now, but a loss or three could result in half his cars getting repo’d back. His next fight certainly isn’t a cakewalk – he fights UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo, a guy who hasn’t lost in 10 years, this Saturday at UFC 194.
