Holly Holm Is Working On Her Ground Game With Teammate Jon Jones

Back in October, before Holly Holm shocked the world by knocking out Ronda Rousey to win the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship, Holm trained for the biggest fight of her life with none other than Jon “Bones” Jones. Holm and Jones go way back as the two share coaches and spar together at Jackson Wink MMA academy in New Mexico, and Holm said Jones was “instrumental” in helping her prepare for the fight against Rousey.

Obviously Holm’s training with Jones paid off in a major way, so before she gets into the octagon again for her next fight against Meisha Tate in March, she’s taken to working again with the former UFC Light Heavyweight champion again, and this time around the pair is focusing on her ground game.

Jones’ put a video of the two up on Instagram, and while they seem to be having some fun with it, there’s little doubt that Holm is getting something out of being able to mix it up with a fighter the skill level of Jones.

We all know Holm’s boxing and striking ability is top notch, but if she wants to beat Tate (and then a likely rematch against Rousey) she’ll have to be crisp in her ground game as well, something Jones knows a thing or two about.
