‘Furious 7’ Director James Wan Is In Talks To Direct ‘Aquaman’ For Warner Bros.

Furious 7 director James Wan is the alleged frontrunner Warner Bros. has in mind to helm their Aquaman movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, no official offer has been given, but preliminary talks have taken place and Wan is definitely in the lead:

His feature debut was with Saw, launching the Lionsgate franchise. He also directed horror movies Insidious and its sequel, as well as the first Conjuring (which were not only hits but very profitable ones), before nabbing the coveted gig of helming Furious 7 after Justin Lin dropped out of the series. This fall’s Conjuring 2 will be a return to his roots.

Wan is already in prep mode for The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist which starts shooting this fall. If he accepts Warner Bros.‘ offer to take on Aquaman, it will mark another interesting step he’ll take in walking the fine line between the world of independent horror films and big budget blockbusters.
