A moderator at Reddit’s Marvel subreddit attended a Q&A with Marvel head Kevin Feige and director Joss Whedon at a pre-screening of Avengers: Age of Ultron and summarized their answers for our intellectual and philosophical pleasure. Good day. Among the interesting reveals is that Feige’s favorite scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron was cut, but it’ll be used in Captain America: Civil War instead. It also turns out those rumors about Phase 3 getting almost as dark as Man Of Steel have been exaggerated, as paraphrased at Reddit:

There is no dark turn in the MCU. He says every year fans come up to him and ask him if this movie is when the MCU goes “dark” or takes a “dark” turn. He said while the trailers may seem ominous or have a sense of impending doom, the movies do not have that feel, and will not. He said he “Hoped people would catch on by now” — there will be no giant dark turns in the MCU where it then continues to head in that direction. The humor is in the DNA of the movies, there are no plans to change that.

That’s good to hear. A Marvel movie without humor woven through it would be like, well, a DC movie. Darkness. No parents. Et cetera.

There have also been rumors going around about certain characters having to die because the actor’s contract is expiring. So you may be interested to learn that Feige also said some of the actor’s contracts have been renewed, although he didn’t say which actors are staying on for longer than originally planned. Feige also didn’t reveal if his own contract — which expires in 2018 — has been renewed yet.
