Ewan McGregor Might Bring Kenobi’s Beard Back For New ‘Star Wars’ Anthology Films

More exciting news from the Star Wars universe: Ewan McGregor, famed for playing Obi-Wan Kenobi in the love them/hate them prequels, could be coming back to reprise his role in a film set between episodes III and IV. And, according to The Nerdist, he could also be starring in a series of films that focus specifically on Obi-Wan’s story and include characters like Owen Lars and Darth Maul.

Darth Maul?! For real? Yes! From The Nerdist:

In the Clone Wars animated series, it was revealed that Darth Maul survived the events of The Phantom Menace, and after slowly putting himself together again, mind and body, he went out on a mission of revenge on Obi-Wan Kenobi. Maul’s fate was left hanging in that series and is one of the last major Clone Wars characters and storylines that we know isn’t set to get resolved in the upcoming season of Rebels. And both cartoon series have been designated official canon by Disney/Lucasfilm, so in the movies, Darth Maul is still out there, looking for revenge against Obi-Wan.

Are you listening, Disney? You should totally do this! And then also make more Star Wars-themed rides in your parks. (Who am I kidding? That’s the possibility I’m really most excited about).

The films featuring Obi-Wan would be stand-alone, which means they’ll be all-new adventures. So it won’t be mandatory to include them in your official Star Wars marathons, which — let’s face it — are already a tad bit too long.
