Brie Larson Will Join Tom Hiddleston On ‘Kong: Skull Island’

If you’re going to make something as inherently goofy as a movie about a giant ape’s home, you need to fill the cast with actors who can elevate the dopey dialogue.

Despite the exits of Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons, Kong: Skull Island (don’t worry, it’s just a name — the island isn’t made of skulls; it only looks like one) is off to a good start with the previously-announced Tom Hiddleston and now, Brie Larson, who should be in everything. Deadline reports that the Trainwreck star/best-thing-to-happen-to-Abed will play the female lead in Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ monkey movie, which is expected to be released on March 10, 2017.

Also in that Deadline story:

One actor [Legendary Pictures is] courting hard for one of those roles is Russell Crowe, but it won’t be clear whether or not that happens until the next script draft comes in. (Via)

I think that means he’s interested?
