Jennifer Lawrence Has A Shotgun In David O. Russell’s ‘Joy’

Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper should probably just have sex already, because that’s clearly what the world wants. They’ve been together in Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, and Serena already (even if you didn’t see that last one), and now they’re back co-starring in David O. Russell’s latest, Joy. I like to imagine David O. Russell has Brad Cooper and Jen Lawrence Barbie dolls and he makes them kiss.

I guess Robert Deniro should get to watch, because he’s in Joy with them again too. I’d prefer to have Jennifer Lawrence for myself, but anything is preferable to America’s sweetheart dating the Coldplay guy. An English guy who wrote “you’re a sky full of stars” dating our finest actress feels like payback for the Revolutionary War. The man should be in prison.

Anyway, here’s the Joy synopsis:

Joy is the wild story of a family across four generations centered on the girl who becomes the woman who founds a business dynasty and becomes a matriarch in her own right. Betrayal, treachery, the loss of innocence and the scars of love, pave the road in this intense emotional and human comedy about becoming a true boss of family and enterprise facing a world of unforgiving commerce. Allies become adversaries and adversaries become allies, both inside and outside the family, as Joy’s inner life and fierce imagination carry her through the storm she faces. Jennifer Lawrence stars, with Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Edgar Ramirez, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd, and Virginia Madsen. Like David O. Russell’s previous films, Joy defies genre to tell a story of family, loyalty and love.

Well that seems like an elaborate way to say a whole lot of nothing. Translation: “Joy has all your favorite actors, acting.”

Honestly, there aren’t many movies that David O. Russell + a raucous Rolling Stones soundtrack couldn’t give me a huge boner for.  Joy opens Christmas Day.
