Anthony Mackie Openly Ridicules Film Critic For Loving ‘Man Of Steel’

While his joke about Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump wasn’t that great, actor Anthony Mackie is very serious about his distaste for Zack Snyder’s 2013 film Man of Steel. This makes complete sense, as Mackie plays Sam Wilson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, otherwise known as the Falcon. So of course he isn’t going to be the biggest fan of DC Comics.

Yet when Collider’s Steve Weintraub asked “DC or Marvel?” during the Our Brand Is Crisis press tour, Mackie didn’t just laugh it off. He took the opportunity to drive the interviewer’s professed affection for the film into the ground, telling him that he was “bananas” for loving it. Twice.

“You just email everybody you know and ask them what they thought about the movie,” said Mackie. When Weintraub admitted that most people “don’t care for it,” Mackie laughed and kept pushing all the buttons he could find — especially when the interviewer described Man of Steel‘s opening as the best part. “But there’s another three hours of movie after that!”

“That scares me that you are reviewing movies,” Mackie joked, despite the critic’s insistence that he no longer reviewed films for Collider. Weintraub subsequently began talking about how much he loved the Marvel films, and how he excited he was for Captain America: Civil War, but the actor immediately shut him down.

“Don’t say it’s good,” he joked. “If you say it’s good, that means it’s awful.”
