Some big news has dropped for fans of the greatest warrior to ever swing a gigantic sword – the film formerly known as The Legend of Conan is now seemingly titled Conan The Conquerer according to the good barbarians over at The Arnold Fans. Arnold and his producers are searching for a director, and the sequel to Conan The Barbarian and Conan The Destroyer should start filming within a year. Now we’ll see Conan, ruler of all, old and gray. Naturally, those under him will look to topple him and heads will fly.

“Conan the Conqueror, where I’m sitting on the throne for years and years – decades, and then all of the sudden, the time comes when they want to overthrow me. So that story WILL be told and that movie WILL be done.”

And at the tender age of 68, Arnold has no qualms with swinging a huge sword and being a total badass without the aid of computers:

“One of the advantages for when you train every day,” begins Arnold, “when you bicycle everyday, when you work out every day is that age is not registering in the body the same with everyone else. Because when you stay in shape, you do turn back the clock. So I feel great and the last few movies that I’ve done, I’ve done many of my own stunts. I did all the physical stuff and it didn’t wipe me out and I have plenty of energy and feel really terrific. So I am absolutely convinced that I can do the Conan movie and do the horseback riding, the sword fights and all the fighting.”

With Hollywood (hopefully) acknowledging the love for Mad Max: Fury Road‘s non-computer generated effects, hopefully Conan The Conquerer can continue the revitalization of practical effects done awesome. It’s the perfect film to do so.
