Long before the Russo brothers, Anthony and Joseph (you can read our interview with them here), were tapped to direct two of the best superhero movies of all time, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, they were better known for their behind-the-camera sitcom work.
They, either together or individually, directed some of the best episodes of Community, like “Cooperative Calligraphy” and “A Fistful of Paintballs,” as well as 14 episodes of Arrested Development, including the pilot. (There was also Running Wilde, but you can’t fault them for that.) Community actually parodied the elevator fight scene from The Winter Solider in season six’s “Modern Espionage,” but the Russo brothers did Dan Harmon one better. Not only did they cast Dean Pelton himself, Jim Rash, as a college professor, but they also slipped a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Arrested Development reference in Civil War.

Yup, it’s only on screen for maybe a second, but you can clearly see the Bluth’s stair-car from Arrested Development right as Captain America is walking onto the airport runway for his climatic battle against Iron Man and company. (It’s probably the best scene in any Marvel movie to date). We can’t show a photo, and won’t be able to until the movie’s released on DVD, but trust us: Captain America is going to get some hop-ons.
