‘Bad Boys 3’ Finally Has An Official Title And A New Release Date

“We ride together, we die together. Bad boys for life.”

We knew Bad Boys 3 was happening, but further details had been scarce — until today. Everyone’s favorite narcotics detectives Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey are indeed eventually coming back, and when they do, the title to their newest adventure will have a familiar ring to it: Bad Boys For Life.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the much anticipated third installment of the Sony trilogy has a preliminary January 2018 target for release. The delay is in part due to the fact that production can not begin until star Will Smith wraps up filming of Collateral Beauty, a drama he moved on to after wrapping on Suicide Squad. Sony also has Bad Boys 4 scheduled for July 3, 2019.

If you thought waiting 13 years for Finding Dory was bad, you’re probably cursing the film’s announced delay. If everything goes according to schedule Bad Boys For Life will premier at least 15 years after Smith and co-star Martin Lawrence filmed the last installment of the Michael Bay directed films. The Grey’s Joe Carnahan has been pegged to direct the re-birth films, with Jerry Bruckheimer expected to return as producer. The 1995 and 2003 versions grossed $65 million and $273 million respectively at the box office.

While the wait might not be what fans wanted to hear, news of a title is another step towards the third and fourth Bad Boys films becoming a reality. In the meantime, you can pull out your VHS tapes and relive the first two films.
