‘Batman And Robin’ Recut In Christopher Nolan’s Style Proves The Power Of A Good Trailer

There is a lot of debate between superhero fans over who’s better, DC or Marvel. As the world gears up for the imminent releases of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Captain America: Civil War, that fan battle is only raging harder. However, there is one fact that unites all comic book movie fans: Batman and Robin is the worst superhero movie ever made. Director Joel Schumacher and star George Clooney have repeatedly apologized for the film over the years, and it was so poorly received that it nearly destroyed the franchise. Fans are not quick to forget Bat nipples and terrible ice puns.

However, Christopher Nolan, Christian Bale, and Batman Begins came along in 2005 and gave us a Batman we could believe in. One YouTuber, The Unusual Suspect, decided to see if a well cut trailer could make Batman and Robin look like a more palatable film, and, well, the results are pretty shocking. Sure, the cheese seeps in at the seams, but when that ’90s schlockfest is given the Nolan treatment, it looks actually decent? This shows us two things about movie trailers today: production values and style have really improved since 1997, and filmmakers have gotten a lot better at making terrible movies look like must-sees.
