Jimmy Kimmel Crashes The Party In A ‘Batman V. Superman’ ‘Deleted Scene’

Jimmy Kimmel essentially staged an early premiere for Batman V. Superman in his post-Oscars show, even rolling out a short clip of the centerpiece fight. But he also revealed his small part in the movie, and also why it got cut.

Kimmel’s skit starts out as a riff on the party scene we’ve caught in the trailer, where Batman and Superman face off in their civilian identities with square jaws and serious issues, but then, well, Kimmel shows up and points out the obvious. You might think, at first, that this is just Kimmel riffing on an old superhero joke, but then it just keeps layering on the absurdity. We don’t want to ruin the whole thing, but suffice to say, just when you think it can’t get any weirder, it does; and also that Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck make surprisingly excellent straight men, despite six minutes of increasing nonsense. We guess after you fight Doomsday, nothing seems weird.

Elsewhere in the show, Ben Affleck talks about one of the fringe benefits of being a superhero. Namely, you can borrow the outfit and show up at your kid’s birthday party in character:

Hopefully he didn’t hit anybody with a Batarang, as tempting as it probably was. That said, he doesn’t appear to be allowed to keep the suit, so Chris O’Donnell has one up on him there, at least.
