Ben Affleck Will Do More Than Just Play Batman In ‘Justice League’

Ben Affleck is pretty involved in DC’s superhero movies already. In addition to playing Batman in both Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad, he’s helping to write and will direct the next Batman movie. And if that weren’t enough, it appears he’s going to pitch in behind the scenes on Justice League as well.

Deadline is reporting that Affleck is taking an executive producer role on Justice League. Everyone’s heard the Hollywood joke about it being what you give to a secretary instead of a raise, but in Affleck’s case, it’s apparently to help out behind the scenes. Apparently he enjoyed working on Batman v Superman with Zack Snyder, despite the critical brickbats, and wants to help out with making the movie the best it can be.

It’s hard to argue with. Affleck is, after all, an Oscar-winning producer and writer, and is working closely with Geoff Johns, DC’s chief creative officer, on Batman. And he’s also been through the other end of the process with a Razzie to his name, and the Sad Ben Affleck meme. That said, it is somewhat surprising that he’s being added as an executive producer on a movie that’s been shooting for almost a month and will be doing more than just taking the ego boost. We’ll see the results of Affleck pitching in when Justice League debuts next year.
