This year’s Oscar darling is set to shine in a different Room. Just as Uproxx predicted at the beginning of the season, Brie Larson is set to host Saturday Night Live in May and light up Studio 8H. She will be accompanied by three-time returning musical guest Alicia Keys, who is probably sick of all the “concrete jungle where dreams are made of” jokes at this point. Larson is hot off her Oscar win for Best Actress, and is officially on the permanent A-list track after her performance in Room and her upcoming role in Kong: Skull Island.
As anybody should be when they get to host Saturday Night Live for the first time, Brie is so excited about the opportunity to make everyone laugh.
Since Keys has been a part of the SNL experience before, Brie will have someone besides the main cast to ask for advice or help during the week before she hosts. Not that she’s a complete rookie when it comes to comedy. Before she became an in-demand dramatic actress, Brie cut her teeth on Community. The chances any of her former Community friends will make the trip to put in a guest spot are slim, but her brief tutelage at the school of Dan Harmon will definitely come in handy for the trickier sketches and if she gets called on to come up with any of her own ideas. Make sure to tune into Brie’s episode on May 7th to see how she does and enjoy the piano-backed music from Keys.
