Disney Is About To Adapt The Coolest Part Of ‘Fantasia’ Into A Live-Action Movie

Night On Bald Mountain is about to become the latest Disney property to make the leap into a live-action film. The iconic final segment from Fantasia features The Devil (or a “dark winged creature” according to THR) summoning all the ghouls and demons to Bald Mountain at midnight in one of the more striking and fantastic pieces from the film. And now Disney is going to see if they can replicate it for an entire movie.

The Hollywood Reporter has Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless tackling the script for the project, noting that it will attempt to follow a similar world-building as Maleficent. It will be the second film adapted from Fantasia following the loose version of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice starring Nic Cage and Nic Cage’s hair. There’s really only one reaction to that one:

Actually there’s probably more than one reaction to it, but that’s the one I’m going with. It’s an awesome segment and hopefully they won’t ruin it by throwing Asa Butterfield in there as the kid who must team with Josh Gad to defeat the freaking Devil played by Jim Belushi. This is a horrible idea, isn’t it?
