Don Cheadle Says War Machine Will Have A ‘Pivotal’ Role in The New ‘Captain America’ Movie

If you asked popular Hollywood actor Don Cheadle to help you move last year and he dismissed you with a “sorry, I’m busy with a pivotal role in the new Captain America movie that week,” here’s your confirmation that his backstory holds up.

News that Cheadle would be bringing his Marvel alter-ego Jim Rhodes/War Machine back around isn’t anything new, but we now have a bit of added detail on how big of an impact he’ll have on this heavily hyped blockbuster outing. Cheadle gave an inkling of detail on what’s in store for Rhodes while chatting with SuperHeroHype at Sundance.

“I never know what it’s going to be and they keep their cards very close to their breast with Marvel. I never know where the character’s going to go, but he’s become more and more and in the next one, you’ll see that what happens to Rhodey is a little bit more intense and pivotal to what happens in the rest of the stories.”

Cheadle sort of gave his own disclaimer, but “intense” and “pivotal” appear to be the keywords for talking about what’s in store for Col. Rhodes. It’s another layer of intrigue attached to a film where we’re already at MAX INTRIGUE and yelling at our calendars over it not coming out until May 6.

Speaking of Cheadle, his Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead (not a joke title) has been enjoying some screenings at Sundance. Reviews for the film initially began tumbling out at the New York Film Festival and they’ve continued on this month. The general consensus? Miles Ahead is considered an uneven motion picture that benefits strongly from having its director/co-writer in the lead role. Early festival reviews aren’t always everything, so absorb the takes with a bit of distance.
