‘Eagles Of Death Metal: Nos Amis (Our Friends)’ Documentary Chronicles Aftermath Of Bataclan Attacks

A little less than a full year after the terror attack that left nearly 100 dead at an Eagles of Death Metal show at Le Bataclan in Paris, the band has announced that they will be releasing a documentary chronicling the aftermath of tragic evening’s events. Entitled Eagles of Death Metal: Nos Amis (Our Friends), the film was directed by Tom Hanks’ son Colin Hanks (who has ties with the band dating back to his 2015 documentary All Things Must Pass: The Rise and Fall of Tower Records), and will premiere on HBO in February 2017.

The film covers not only the attacks themselves, but the band’s return to Paris a few months removed, and the strong friendship between members Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme. It also features a segment depicting the band’s emotional return to the stage only a month after the attacks, when U2 invited them to join them onstage in Paris, Bono introducing them saying, “they were robbed of their stage, so we would like to offer them ours.” Additionally, the doc features new original music from Queens of the Stone Age contributor Alain Johannes.

In the months after the attacks, Jesse Hughes remained in the spotlight for his inflammatory comments claiming that the Bataclan’s security staff may have had prior knowledge of the attacks.

A year removed, Le Bataclan is set to re-open as promised later this month, with Pete Doherty and Nada Surf among the scheduled acts.
