Another day, another kernel of casting info regarding the female-driven Ocean’s Eleven reboot. First we heard that Cate Blanchett was set to join the party presumably as the Brad Pitt to Sandra Bullock’s George Clooney. Then came word that Mindy Kaling and Helena Bonham Carter had signed on. Now comes some scuttlebutt regarding Elizabeth Banks, rumored to be the next big addition to the crew.

Showbiz 411 first reported Banks’s possible involvement and she makes a lot of sense as member of this particular ensemble. Not only does her sense of humor bode well for this type of flick, she’s got plenty of experience working with director Gary Ross, who will helm the project, currently known as Ocean’s Ocho. Ross first directed Banks in 2003 Best Picture nominee Seabiscuit, then in the far more high-profile, first installment of The Hunger Games series.

Banks recently had to bow out of directing duties

for the next installment of the Pitch Perfect franchise, the second of which was both a monster hit and her directorial debut. Ross’s next movie is the Matthew McConaughey-led Civil War drama Free State of Jones, which will hit theaters on June 24. No word yet on when Ocean’s Ocho will start filming or get a release date. But given the regular frequency of casting updates, it’s safe to assume we’ll find out sooner rather than later.
