The Next ‘Fast And Furious’ Movie Has A Teaser And A New Official Title

Five things:

1) The title of the next Fast & Furious movie is now The Fate of the Furious. This was just revealed on Twitter and continues the franchise’s long history of refusing to create anything resembling a uniform titling system. The films are now titled, in order: The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious, Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7, and now The Fate of the Furious. This is madness.

2) I bring this up every time I mention the franchise, but consider this your periodic reminder that the Japanese titles of the first seven movies are Wild Speed, Wild Speed X2, Wild Speed X3: Tokyo Drift, Wild Speed MAX, Wild Speed MEGA MAX, Wild Speed: Euro Mission, and Wild Speed: Sky Mission. This is better.

3) The studio also released a short teaser, the purpose of which is to tease the official trailer that is dropping this weekend. This is where I would usually say something about how insane it is to have a a teaser for a trailer, but it features Tyrese flying through the air on a dang snowmobile, so fine. I’m in.

4) Mark my words: This franchise will end up in outer space before it’s all said and done. Or in a submarine. I guarantee it.

5) Ohhhhhh, I get it. F8 = Fate. The “Fate” of the Furious. Like a play on words. Not bad. Still no “Wild Speed MEGA MAX,” but not bad.
