Hugh Dancy Is A Go For ‘Fifty Shades Darker,’ So Adjust Your ‘Hannibal’ Fan-Fiction Accordingly

Congratulations everybody! Now your mom can tie your endorsement of Hannibal to her thoughts on BDSM at the movies. Aren’t you the lucky devil!

Emmy-nominated actor Hugh Dancy is hopping aboard the sequel of the spank-happy blockbuster Fifty Shades of Grey. In the second installment of the Fifty Shades film trilogy, Fifty Shades Darker, Dancy will play Christian Grey’s psychiatrist Dr. John Flynn. Our condolences if you thought Dancy would be playing the role of nipple clamps.

Dancy joins a cast that includes returning stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, plus Kim Basinger in the role of Mrs. Elena “Robinson” Lincoln, the woman that brought S&M into Grey’s life. Filming of Fifty Shades Darker will be followed immediately with shooting the third movie Fifty Shades Freed. With Fifty Shades of Grey helmer Sam Taylor-Johnson not returning, Who’s That Girl director James Foley has stepped in to take on both pictures.

The source material (which includes the infamous words “kinky f*ckery”) suggests that this definitely won’t be a film dropping to a PG-13 rating with its next go-around. Fifty Shades Darker is currently is set for a Feburary 10, 2017 release with Fifty Shades Freed arriving the following year on February 9. The first motion picture in the series paddled the global box office’s bottom to a $560 million haul, so expectations will be high for more blockbuster returns for these upcoming offerings.
