If you were wondering just how far afield Chris Hemsworth, a.k.a. Thor, was going with his character in Ghostbusters, please watch this featurette, which explores that just in time for Administrative Professionals’ Day. The answer, by the way, is very. Hemsworth seems to be portraying Kevin the receptionist as a Golden retriever with abs, or possibly a member of the grand fraternity of Sex Idiots.
Yes, Kevin is dumb. Kevin is, it turns out, staggeringly dumb, to the point where his glasses have no lenses because they kept getting dirty, and he’s adorably convinced he’s going to be a Ghostbuster. And apparently it was all Hemsworth’s idea, as the clips of Kevin showing off boob-heavy logos and getting the coffee order wrong are interspersed with stories about how he kept derailing the shoot by finding new intellectual lows for his character. Which leaves us wondering just who had the idea he should pose naked with a saxophone.
The movie isn’t neglecting the rest of the cast, though, as it debuted a bunch of new posters, celebrating Leslie Jones slapping Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig getting ectoplasm where you don’t want ectoplasm to go:
Also curious is that the final shot of the featurette, with the ghost swooping in, more clearly shows Times Square being reverted to its late ’70s infamy. We’ll find out just who wishes the Carter era had never ended July 15.
