The ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Crew Takes Over ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ In This Mashup Trailer

In a lot of ways, Guardians of the Galaxy felt like it captured the essence of Star Wars better than anything we’ve seen since the original trilogy. The likable and unique characters, the non-stop banter, the genuinely fresh and surprising universe – Guardians was certainly a better Star Wars movie than any of the prequels.

Of course, Guardians of the Galaxy will never replace Star Wars, because Disney is going to be making a new Star Wars movie every year from now until the end of time. But hey, you’re free to imagine a world where GotG gets to be the true successor to Star Wars thanks to YouTuber Alex Luthor. He went and made his own Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, which removes John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, and the rest of the new cast and replaces them with GotG characters. It works surprisingly well (Chris Pratt looks good with a lightsaber) although to really drive it home, he should have had Groot doing Wookie calls.

Now, the real question: How long until we get an actual Guardians of the Galaxy/Star Wars crossover? If the GotG movies keep bringing in the bucks, I have a hard time believing Disney will be able to resist that sweet, sweet branding synergy.
