This Awesome Boyfriend Crafted A ‘Harry Potter’ Broomstick For His Potterhead Lady

When it comes to thoughtful Christmas presents, this boyfriend dug deep to provide a personalized gift for his lady. Jared Weissman and Shelby Stein have dated for five years. That’s more than long enough to grow familiar with another’s eccentricities and know the best buttons to push. Jared and Shelby are both proud geeks and regularly post Facebook photos of their exploits:

Shelby also happens to be a massive Potterhead, so Jared set out to create the ultimate fan present. Over the course of three weeks, he crafted a Nimbus 2000 that is nearly identical to Harry’s own ride in the films.

The broom was built from pine wood with basket reed bristles and Styrofoam circles, which added shaping details. Jared added a mahogany wood stain with a polyurethane coat on top, and the Nimbus 2000 logo lends an authentic touch. This sort of memorabilia would sell for hundreds (if not thousands) on eBay, so yes, Shelby is a lucky gal. She gushed to Seventeen about how pleased she was with the token:

“It was wrapped in brown paper and twine just like it was in the movie when Harry receives in the Great Hall from his owl Hedwig. I could tell what it was from the shape of it, and I just remember being so excited and even cried! My room is slowly turning into a Harry Potter fan cave.”

Shelby added that she also has a Harry trunk, which is filled to the brim and surrounded by other memorabilia. It sounds like she now has the crowning jewel for her collection.
