Check Out This Trailer For A Full-Length 8-Bit Movie About Washed-Up Rock Stars

A couple of years ago, a very cool project was brought to my attention — the first-ever full-length animated movie made to look like an 8-bit video game. The Hit Squad is the creation of filmmaker Chris Blundell and it follows a group of 1980s-era rockers as they try to reclaim their relevance. Here is the synopsis from the web site:

In the 80s The Hit Squad were the biggest band in the world, nowadays, not so much. Little do they know that a new evil arises and threatens to change their lives forever. Can they defeat the evil Scourge Studios and win back their fame, fortune and the keys to the infamous ‘Fun Cupboard’?

I’ll leave it up to you, the audience, to consider what the “Fun Cupboard” is all about in the context of ’80s rock music. But in the meantime, the new teaser trailer gives everyone a bit (hehe, I’m adorable) of what our heroes are like. It’s kind of like what would happen if all those rumors about Princess Peach getting frisky with every member of Spinal Tap were true.
