Daniel Craig Isn’t Done As James Bond After ‘SPECTRE’

Before any of you hardcore James Bond fans get your hopes up about Tom Hardy, Hugh Jackman, Damian Lewis, Idris Elba, Jason-Abso-F*cking-Lutely-Statham, or Air Bud becoming the next 007, Daniel Craig has an important reminder for you – he’s still under contract. Bond casting news always makes for a really good conversation starter, because us Bondage Enthusiasts (fan club name pending) love nothing more than ignoring the current franchise and looking ahead at what could be next. After all, talking about James Bond 25 before SPECTRE has even hit theaters gives us, like, two years to make sh*t up and speculate wildly. That’s why the Internet was invented!

But just as people recently started spinning stories out of Craig’s comments that he might be done as Bond after SPECTRE, the actor cleared everything up in a new interview with the Daily Mail’s Event. After suffering a knee injury during the filming of SPECTRE, Craig’s departure could have made sense, but he is locked in for the 25th film and he’s not opposed to more films after that.

‘It’s getting harder. But such is life. I’ll keep going as long as I’m physically able.

‘I’m contracted for one more – but I’m not going to make predictions.’

He still finds it exciting to make the films.

‘These movies don’t get made very often,’ he says. ‘It’s just the fourth time for me, a spit in the ocean.

‘If you don’t get excited about making a movie of this size with this cast, with Sam Mendes… then go home.’ (Via The Daily Mail)

The bad news is that we can stuff our post-Craig Bond speculation for now, because Lord knows where those other actors will be in their careers five years from now. What we can still speculate about, though, is the idea of Craig staying on as Bond after he turns 50. I, for one, am ready for my fan fiction, “Lil Jimmy Bond: Secret Agent Toddler,” to hit the big screen. Although, Craig does have a certain appeal for that role, too…
