Is Hawkeye A Good Candidate For His Own Small Screen Series? Jeremy Renner Thinks So

You’ve injected two seasons of Daredevil into your veins, scarfed down a run of Jessica Jones with an insatiable appetite for more and you’ve taken out your frustrations on your poor Garfield calendar because Luke Cage is still months away. Marvel’s had a pretty good run on Netflix and it’s always fun to fantasize about what other characters could make the leap to the small (streaming) screen.

ComicBook.com reports that a Silicon Valley Comic Con Q&A featured a question directed at Jeremy Renner about whether or not he’d be interested to shift Hawkeye over to Netflix for a Daredevil-esque series.

“I think that’s actually a really great model, if there’s ever a way to explore the character, maybe it’s in that world. These are things that are really not in my control, but I’d be open to it. I’ve really enjoyed getting to explore the character more recently. The Netflix model is where all the character drama goes to now, you’re doing a superhero movie or a Netflix or HBO kind of model. So I’d be open to it. Not up to me, though.”

As he concedes, the decision is out of his hands, but hearing that sort of interest probably put a few smiles on the faces of Hawkeye fans. (Hawkheads? Eyeballs? Archery enthusiasts?) Renner also responded to a question gauging interest in a Hawkeye + Black Widow cinematic adventure with a hearty: “In a second. I’d love to do that.” Renner sounds like he’s game to bring his bow and arrow loads of places, so if you’ve got a pitch for a Hawkeye project and Marvel gives you the okay, odds are you’re in a good place. Be sure to keep this in mind if a sitcom called Hawkeye’s Head pops up on ABC next fall.
