J.J. Abrams Met With ‘Metal Gear Solid’ Creator Hideo Kojima To Talk Games And Tech

Hideo Kojima is a free man. After a protracted, ugly breakup with publisher Konami, the Metal Gear Solid creator has started a new studio, and has been on a 10-day tech and culture tour with the man who created the PS4, Mark Cerny.

Kojima’s tour has included visits to several different video game developers, including Sucker Punch (Sly Cooper, Infamous) and SCE Santa Monica (God of War), but he also touched base with a pretty major contact from the movie industry. Yup, Kojima met with the man behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens himself.

This actually isn’t the first time Kojima and J.J. Abrams have met, as the two are apparently friends. Here’s a picture from earlier this year of Kojima chillin’ with BB-8.

J.J. Abrams has recently got into video game development himself with Spyjinx, a strategy-stealth spy game. That certainly sounds like something Kojima might be interested in. What does all this mean? Could Kojima and J.J. Abrams be thinking of making a game together? Personally, I’d rather see Kojima catch back up with Guillermo del Toro, but I’m sure Abrams has some pretty original, groundbreaking game ideas.
