Excited For ‘John Wick: Chapter 2’? Great, Because ‘John Wick: Chapter 3’ Is Happening, Too

While there were plenty of big announcements and teasers coming out of New York Comic-Con, one of our favorite moments was undoubtedly the release of the first official trailer for John Wick: Chapter 2. The sequel to the 2014 action rampage film that won our hearts with the story of a hitman avenging the murder of his puppy looks to be just as insane and bloody as the first one, with Keanu Reeves’ titular badass heading to Rome for a party that will be quite deadly.

Also on the guest list are Common, Ruby Rose, and Reeves’ Matrix co-star Laurence Fishburne, while Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, and John Leguizamo return. So then the next question is: Who will live to see John Wick: Chapter 3? Director Chad Stahelski told Collider at NYCC that a third film is already in the works, which is awesome but, come on. We haven’t even stopped watching the Chapter 2 trailer.

“The studio has asked us to put our heads together and see if we can come up with something. Winston’s [McShane] is a big part of the next one, so is Lance Reddick. We’ve got some ideas.” (Via Collider)

What’s interesting is that Stahelski admits that coming up with the idea for Chapter 2 wasn’t very easy. “We had like ten bad ideas,” he said, and you’re probably wondering how there are any ideas other than “John Wick shoots a bunch of dudes.” But that’s what makes John Wick so wonderful; it is artistic with its violence.

That, of course, could spark the debate of whether or not Chapter 2 is even necessary, let alone Chapter 3, but as the moderator of that debate, I would just tell everyone to shush and then we’d watch John Wick and smile.
