Julianne Moore and other celebrities are officially getting into gun control advocacy. The Oscar-winning actress has started a Hollywood committee to promote measures that will stop gun violence.

According to Variety, Moore’s council is a chapter of Everytown for Gun Safety, which organizes in each state around gun control issues. Her committee is specifically called the Everytown Creative Council. “The creative community is committed to helping erase the scourge of gun violence, which claims 88 American lives every day. We are artists, but we’re American citizens first,” writes the council on their webpage.

In a statement, also quoted by Variety, Moore said: “We do not believe that the Second Amendment and gun safety are mutually exclusive ideas, and as a creative community, we will do everything we can to support the safety of our fellow Americans, and galvanize more to join us in this movement.”

The Everytown Creative Council says that they will advocate for specific measures, like keeping guns out of the hands of criminals or those with mental illness, and getting people to store their firearms safely, especially out of the reach of children. The committee also pledges to use its “communications skills” and “the power of culture” to move these efforts forward.

A number of celebrities are listed as being members of this council, including Amy Schumer, Jennifer Lawrence, Yoko Ono, and Seth MacFarlane.
