The Makers Of ‘Jurassic World’ Congratulated ‘Star Wars’ For Besting Them At The Box Office

As you may have heard, Star Wars: The Force Awakens was finally released this past weekend, and it made a lot of money. An obscene amount of money. The latest Star Wars brought in $238 million domestically this past weekend, crushing the previous record-holder, Jurassic World, which brought in $208 million in its first weekend. So, how are the makers of Jurassic World taking this? Are they going to send trained velociraptors after J.J. Abrams? Should Disney brace for a Indominus Rex attack?

Actually, they seem to be taking it rather well. They even congratulated Star Wars with a goofy Photoshop…

Jurassic World still has the biggest international opening weekend of all-time ($316 million to The Force Awakens‘ $279 million), so I guess they felt they could be magnanimous. Also, let’s not forget Jurassic World got its own goofy Photoshop congrats when it beat the record set by The Avengers.

Of course, Star Wars, The Avengers and Jurassic World are all kind of part of same extended Disney/Lucasfilm/Amblin family. It will be interesting to see if any congratulatory back pats and Photoshops are handed out if, say, Batman v Superman or the new Independence Day tops The Force Awakens‘ record.
