‘Rick And Morty’ Fans Will Be Thrilled About This Detail In The ‘Justice League’ Trailer

One of the chief complaints against Zack Snyder’s disastrously received Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was that it was too dark, both figuratively (cheer up, Bruce Wayne, you’re goddamn Batman) and literally. It was hard to see what was going on. Where’s a color-correcting hero when we need them the most? But Snyder heard your complaints, and he’s wubba lubba dub dub.

Justice League, DC’s upcoming team-up of the Dark Knight, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg, is reportedly more “fun” than Dawn of Justice, and Snyder told us, “Because of what fans have said and how the movie was received by some, we have really put the screws to what we thought the tone would be and I feel pressed it a little bit further.”

Apparently that involves sliding in Rick and Morty references.

In the Justice League footage released during San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, the Flash is pissed because Bruce Wayne is sitting, without permission, in his second favorite chair. It’s an amusing scene — especially when the Flash cuts off Batman (no one cuts off Batman) to say that he’s in before he even knows what he’s signing up for — but there’s something even more interesting happening in the background. That clip is from the season one episode, “Something Ricked This Way Comes,” and the only reason anyone noticed the Flash’s monitor is because Snyder learned that not every scene has to be bathed in pitch black. Snyder can fully redeem himself if he sets a training montage to “X Gon’ Give It to Ya.”
