No, the headline doesn’t contain any typos or misinformation, and the header image isn’t a photoshopped forgery. The Cesar Awards — French cinema’s own version of the Academy Awards — happened last night, and Kristen Stewart became the first American actress to win one of the golden rectangular blocks of, erm, stuff.

You’re probably thinking, “Have the French seen any of the Twilight films? Or, heaven forbid, The Runaways?” Whether or not they have, the French Ministry of Culture and the voting members decided to award Stewart the trophy for Best Supporting Actress. According to Entertainment Weekly:

Stewart took home the French honor for her supporting role in Clouds of Sils Maria, directed by Olivier Assayas, which premiered at Cannes last year.

Juliette Binoche and Chloë Grace Moretz also starred, with Binoche portraying an actress who appears in a revival of the play that launched her career 20 years ago.

Then again, Stewart probably has more in common with French filmmakers and audiences than anyone on the American side of the Atlantic. Hell, they probably respect her more for her recent comments on how proud she is of Twilight — despite it being Twilight.

For reference, here’s a highlight reel of Stewart’s best acting moments from the past decade.
