Written and directed by Damien Chazelle (Whiplash), La La Land is reportedly going to reinvent the musical genre with a “brand new start.” What better way to do that than by having Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone reunite and make audiences believe that they’re actually falling in love? Just look at them in this trailer, being all attractive and perfect while they dance through beautiful scenery and smile at each other longingly from across crowded rooms only to embrace in the middle and make us imagine what their babies would look like.
Of course, not all can go well in a love story such as this, as we see from the tears in Stone’s eyes. Hey girl, tears are just the eyes’ way of watering the flowers of your face. But seriously, why so sad?

On a sadness scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being Paul Blart getting kicked by an exotic bird and 10 being Paul Blart getting a sequel, La La Land looks like it’ll be at least on par with the opening of Up. We’ll find out for certain when Baby Goose and Stone hit the big screen in December.
