Martin Freeman Has Joined The Cast Of ‘Captain America: Civil War’

Marvel has sucked another acclaimed actor into its ambiguous portal, this time handing Martin Freeman bags with dollar signs painted on them to play an as-yet-unnamed character in Captain America: Civil War. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige complimented the Fargo star for his “range from the dramatic to the comedic” and that he’s “consistently impressed us.”

Freeman joins an already massive Captain America: Civil War cast, including Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Olsen, and Chadwick Boseman, making his Marvel debut as Black Panther. A brand spanking new Spider-Man will also appear in the film, which is due out on May 6, 2016. Some will speculate that Freeman could step into Peter Parker’s tights, but that’s ridiculous. Much more likely is that Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will show up in Civil War, and he and Freeman will fall in love and the Internet will finally get the Sherlock/Watson romance they’ve been aching for.

R.I.P. the Internet’s ovaries.
