Over the years we as a culture have become inured by Matthew McConaughey and his stellar performances. Maybe it’s the way he talks, the monologues that he’s given, or the earnest expression on his face, but it’s become a staple part of our lives. He could sell just about anything to us and people are taking full advantage of that, with everything from luxury car ads to bourbon. Matthew McConaughey has taken us to the stars and he’s taken us to Carcosa, now he’s gonna take us mining for gold and who are we kidding? Of course we are along for the ride.
The latest comes to us via Vulture, and it’s a trailer for the film Gold. The film features a balding Matthew McConaughey down on his luck, grifting his way to Borneo where he starts digging for gold and strikes it rich. Of course, things go horribly wrong because they had to at some point, I mean it is kinda sorta based on a true story, right?
The trailer highlights McConaughey at his wild best, doing everything from finding gold in his tighty whities to petting a tiger as a part of a business transaction and keeping Bryce Dallas Howard bathed in gold because that is what a gold mogul does.
