Unlike Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman Isn’t All That Excited For ‘Batman V Superman’

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is releasing in a few weeks, so that can only mean one thing: let’s needle the actors from Chris Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy to talk smack about it! Will anyone go there? Or will they keep it polite? Was anyone not here to make friends?

Well, Entertainment Tonight did speak with both Christian Bale (who recently said he was disappointed in his Batman) and velvet-voiced cookie enthusiast Morgan Freeman, who played Lucius Fox in Nolan’s trilogy. Morgan expressed to Entertainment Tonight that he wasn’t so sure about this whole Batfleck business:

“You know, I’m happy for Ben [Affleck], but I don’t know how that’s gonna work. Because the Dark Knight was almost ‘it.’ Pretty much ‘it.’ Did you see Batman Begins? I don’t think you can beat that.”

It’s not quite a “bless his heart” level of diss. It’s more of a, “Oh, you’re going to watch that?” kind of dismissal.

Meanwhile, Christian Bale reacted to Freeman’s comment at the Knight of Cups premiere on Tuesday. He said, “Right on for Morgan [Freeman] for saying no one will ever be that, I very much like him.” But he also praised the movie, saying, “I think the trailers are looking great and I’m looking forward to that.” As for Affleck, he kept it polite, but vague, “Everyone brings their own element to that — Ben will do that, as well.”

We’ll see if the element Affleck brings is as badass as it looked in the new trailer when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25.
