For over two years, Payday 2 has been scratching that highly organized, intricate, multiplayer heist itch on PC and all of the consoles that matter. At first, Payday was just a Heat simulator minus Robert DeNiro and Val Kilmer. But since launch, Overkill Software and Starbreeze Studios have been keeping loyal players busy by consistently updating the base game with playable characters, new masks, weapons and heists.
In fact, they’ve released at least one piece of DLC per month since launch, and are looking at their 40th piece of DLC as a tie-in to the upcoming Point Break remake.
The synergy between Payday 2 and Point Break is obvious, Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson-Klint said:
“Point Break has always been a huge inspiration for the Payday games, so to be able to integrate the film’s characters and story lines into Payday 2 is a dream come true.”
And while it looks like the remake of Point Break will serve as an inspiration to the new heists in Payday 2, I have full confidence that the devs will throw us some classic one-liners from the original 1991 film. You know, like, “Are you gonna jump or jerk off?” And other, nonsensical goodness like that.
