Neil Patrick Harris Will Host The 2015 Academy Awards

Looks like the 2015 Academy Awards are going to be legen … wait for it … waaaaaaiiit for it … WAAAAIIIITTT FOR IT … … … crap, I forgot where I was going with that. Anyway, point being, Neil Patrick Harris has been named host of the 2015 Academy Awards.

From the Academy’s official statement:

“It is truly an honor and a thrill to be asked to host this year’s Academy Awards. I grew up watching the Oscars and was always in such awe of some of the greats who hosted the show,” Harris said. “To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true.”

This is great, and much deserved, as Harris has been a good-to-great host at all of those other ceremonies. But more importantly, when you add in his turns as host of the Emmys and Tonys, it brings him just a Grammys hosting gig away from an unprecedented hosting EGOT. This needs to happen, by any means necessary. Now, am I saying I think one of you should kidnap LL Cool J the night before the ceremony next year? No, I am not saying that. But I’m not not saying it either. We’re just talking, you and me. Like friends. And that’s the story we stick to when the fuzz comes knocking, got it?
