They’ve already picked Michael Cera to play Robin and join his Arrested Development co-star, Will Arnett — who is reprising his role as the Dark Knight –in the upcoming LEGO Batman movie, but now according to The Hollywood Reporter, Rosario Dawson is set to join the cast as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl.
Dawson won over comic book fans this year as fan-favorite Claire Temple on Netflix’s Daredevil and will reprise the role in season two, as well as Jessica Jones, and the upcoming Netflix/Marvel effort, Luke Cage. Playing Batgirl isn’t the first DC character that Dawson has voiced, either. She put words in Wonder Woman’s mouth in this year’s Justice League: Throne of Atlantis and was Artemis in the Wonder Woman animated film back in 2009. Sadly, we’ll have to wait quite a while to hear Dawson give life to LEGO bricks since Lego Batman isn’t expected to hit theaters until 2017.
