All The ‘Star Wars’ Easter Eggs And Rumors To Watch Out For In ‘Rogue One’

The release of the Rogue One trailer on Good Morning America reignited Star Wars fever on the tail of The Force Awakens arrival on Blu Ray. It also comes just in time for Star Wars Day, allowing us all to comb through the awesome visuals and callbacks to the original trilogy in celebration.

Mr. Sunday Movies has done his job once again, combing through the new trailer and pointing out the Easter eggs and references that will be good to keep an eye on as we head toward the film’s release. We dug in a bit ourselves earlier, hitting on a few of the same notes — Mon Mothma returning from a deleted scene in Revenge of the Sith is a nice touch.

One thing that really stands out about Rogue One is the sigh of relief behind the setting and story. How did it take this long for someone to tap into the Star Wars universe and create films that aren’t based on the main storyline? Some of the best stories in the original expanded universe had to do with stuff away from the original characters, especially when it came to video games, comics, and a few other places. Following characters like Boba Fett or the Rogue Squadron was a lot of good fun. While they won’t be appearing in Rogue One, the feeling is there. Getting to see the events take place from another point of view brings back some of that cool stuff we lose with the move onto the Legends tagline.
